Election 2006

In January 0f 2006, Governor Jim Douglas appointed Don Turner, Jr. to complete the unexpired term of Rep. Doran Metzger, who had resigned to serve in Iraq. This appointment was based on the recommendation of the Milton Republican Committee and supported enthusiastically by me.
Don came to the Statehouse ready to learn and anxious to do his best for the people of Milton. It is difficult to be new at the Statehouse and especially difficult to come in the middle of a term and try to fill the shoes of a five term, popular incumbent. Don did both with great success. He was willing to ask questions and learn the ropes, but was confident to speak his mind and protect the interests of Milton citizens. He did so with great success.
Milton voters have the opportunity to return Don Turner to the Statehouse and I strongly recommend that they do. I have known Don for many years. He has served this community in many capacities, most recently as our current fire chief. He is a professional, committed and caring person who will put Milton taxpayers first and politics second. While it is my turn to step aside for family matters, I am honored to have Don step in and offer his talents to our town.
I enthusiastically support Don Turner, Jr. for State Representative in Chittenden District 9.
