Election 2008
Don Turner Jr.
Candidacy Announcement
2008 Election
I hereby announce that I wish to be re-elected as Milton's representative to the Vermont House of Representatives. Serving as your representative for the last three years has truly been an honor. I have worked hard for our community over the years and wish to continue serving as your representative.
There will be many important issues that will come before the legislature over the next two years. Tougher laws for offenders convicted of heinous crimes and extending the Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant license are two that come to mind. Yet, I still believe that there are none more important than those related to the cost of living in Vermont. We continue to see our property taxes, housing, utility and healthcare costs increasing at unsustainable rates. We can't continue to ignore these issues.
Working on these issues and with Milton officials on legislation that will benefit our community are very important parts of the job. Another is being your conduit to State government. I have arranged for the seniors to visit and students to shadow me at the Statehouse. Honoring the state champion girl's basketball team on the house floor was also very special.
Many people ask me how I am able to manage multiple jobs. My answer is always the same. I have been very fortunate in my life to surround myself with supportive, caring and hard working people. Whether it is at home, the fire and rescue stations or my business, the people around me play a very important role in my life. Each job also helps me stay in touch with different aspects of our community.
Please call 373-5960 or email me at dturner@leg.state.vt.us with questions.
I appreciate your past support and hope that you will consider voting for me on November 4, 2008. Thank you.
