2010 Election
Serving as your representative for the last five years has truly been an honor. Community service in Milton has always been a very important part of my life. I would very much like to continue serving as your representative in Montpelier and hereby announce my candidacy for re-election to the Vermont House of Representatives.
There will be many important issues that will come before the legislature. I believe that the most important issue is resolving the current budget crisis. Decisions made to balance the budget have a direct impact on the cost of living in Vermont. Our property taxes, housing, utility and healthcare costs are increasing at unsustainable rates. The legislature cannot continue to ignore the outcomes of these budget decisions on the lives of Vermonters.
Working on these issues and with local officials on legislation that benefits our community are very important parts of the job. Another is being your voice to State government. I have arranged for our seniors to visit, students to shadow me and have honored at the Statehouse every Milton High School State Champion since taking office.
Many people ask me how I am able to manage multiple jobs. My answer is always the same. I am fortunate in life to have surrounded myself with supportive, caring and hard working people. Whether it is at home, the fire and rescue stations or my business, the people around me play an important role in my life. Each job is very important to me and helps me stay in touch with our community.
