Your Letter in the Milton Independent
"Dear Mr. Turner: I was compelled to send you this note to say "Thank You" for standing up for what's right concerning the three bills you mentioned in your letter. More importantly to me, and I'm sure many others, is that you put your constituents, and the good of this State first, before your popularity with the other "so-called" representatives. I too was against moving the primary date (for no good reasons). As far as the river corridor management bill, though I don't know all the details, I know enough to believe the government has been "grabbing" land and land rights from home owners for a long time now, and it's WRONG!! As far as S.286, how much time does it take these people to come up with the names for these bills; to make them appear in the best interests of the people???? Challenges for "change"???? Haven't people seen enough "CHANGE" in the past year to WAKE THEM UP!!! I am a native Vermonter, and used to be so proud to say where I lived. This is a beautiful state, but, unfortunately has been taken over by the left and their policies. Our children are leaving because there are no jobs, the taxes are outrageous, the homes are too expensive and they don't want to live in the state that is a "petri dish" for liberal legislation.I've always tried to keep up with the political scene in Vermont, but no where near as much as I have this past year. I volunteered to work with a couple of other ladies to co-organize the burlington tea party group last year (we've changed our name to The Green Mountain Patriots). I am also, along with a couple of others from the group, making appointments to go to the Senior Ctrs to give them information on the 3 State Health Care bills and what sort of impact it may have on them. Those have been going well. While it may not seem like much, at least these people in our group decided to get off the couch and DO SOMETHING. None of us are politicians; just concerned Vermonters, and concerned Americans.
My family moved to Milton 20 years ago (from Winooski). I am pleased that for the most part, this town has voted more conservatively than any other in Chittenden County. I'm very happy about that, but, as I'm sure you know, with many new people moving in (which is good also) it seems as though the conservatives may soon be in the minority here. Let's hope not!
Again, my apologies for the length of this email, but I really did want to thank you for your service to the Town of Milton, and the State of Vermont. Keep up the great work. If there is anything I can do to help with your election should you decide to run again, please feel free to contact me. Regards, Susan Santerre"
